Even as an employed person, spaces like that would be so nice. Literally a combination of a free “third place” and practical utility.
Imagining the kinds of people you could meet there is hearbreaking when you compare it to shit like WeWork which was also just an IPO scam

Cool idea ! I’m lucky enough to move to Kampuchea (cambodia), and have been wondering how to best connect to like-minded locals. I think I can set up such a cheap public ‘workshop’ area that covers main developments/educations, and let unemployed teach/help each other in a self-evolving community. It likely needs some trimming to local conditions, but seems doable… Each workshop would be a ‘maker-space’ for the type of technology/knowledge, that are interests/capacity/need for + one workshop for p2p organization/evolution without Capitalist c*nts.
IF I can avoid the ‘White Savior Syndrome’, there are some cool possibilities here…

If you want to avoid white savior syndrome, it’s not an attitude. This is going to come across like a joke but go read every article on RedSails.org especially Losurdo stuff. Friend sent it to me last year and going though it was just like “oh yup that’s me, me, everyone I have ever met in my life, also me, wow I’m George Hitler Washington” and I felt so much better, like I wasn’t fucking crazy.
Consider that Western NGOs are still considered useful enough by China and Vietnam despite clearly having white savior syndrome, and actively stealing plans for the power grid
