Salem's city council voted unanimously to pursue a data center moratorium after residents — and a guillotine — pushed back on a $5.1 billion AI facility.

This story has been posted all over the net, about 60 times on Lemmy today, and absolutely nobody has said “this seems unreasonable”

If you see a flying bug with black and yellow stripes you know not to fuck with it. Oregon is basically saying “buzz buzz” here.

Weird how this can be done for one CEO but we can’t do it for Trump and congress?

    C’mon! Let’s step it up a notch!

Can’t even say 86 47 without the administration trying to put you in jail. You think a guillotine would be allowed in the same city? Stephen Miller would probably try to have the wagon owner shot by secret service.

Unfortunately I’m in no position, financially or mobility-wise, to make the 2000 mile journey to DC. All I can do is vote for candidates that promise to change things while my fellow voters seem to always vote for incumbents. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So the CEO just assumed that the guillotine was for him?

    Hmm.

Well, yeah. A guillotine is a CEO’s natural enemy.

I wonder how functional it was. Love the idea and I hope more communities start taking back the power from those that are abusing the populace. It’s going to have to be from the ground up.

Pretty sure 0% functional. The blade doesnt sit in a rail and seems to be fixed to the top. The head shackle doesnt have any moving parts either. The bottom doesnt have a slit for the blade to go through. Also zero weight ofc. At that drop height you would need like a 100kg blade to cut through a neck cleanly.

Rope is completely slack, meaning it isn’t supporting anything.
