This isn’t the first government that has tried to designate the IRGC as a terrorist organisation.
Successive governments in the past have also attempted to list it as such but stopped short of doing so. This is because the IRGC is still an arm of the Iranian state and that has presented some legal challenges.
Outgoing PM Starmer did table a bill in parliament in April as he wanted it to be a part of his legacy package and he seems to be fast-tracking it through.
Such a brain dead idea. The IRGC is a national military organization. If you start branding national militaries as terrorist organizations, and then start prosecuting members of those militaries on terrorism charges? Well that’s a two-way street. Pretty soon Iran will be putting captured British troops on trial for terrorism charges and holding them personally accountable for following the orders of their government.

The Americans should get designated as terrorists first under that logic. That’s like their entire thing
Britain is allowing the US to use British and BOT airbases to attack Iran. That sounds exactly like sponsoring proxy attacks on foreign soil.
An important difference, but doesn’t invalidate the point the previous poster made
Does the British government not send arms to genocidal colonial settler states? For the purpose of carrying out genocide?

Ah my bad, the British only lent their spy planes to tell the Israelis which civilians to target So different

Not trying to pull you into anything mate Just pointing out how your argument of the British army being different from the IRGC is such a tired old colonialist viewpoint, just because they aren’t publicly making statements about murdering civilians doesnt mean they don’t have an active hand in orchestrating it And fuck you my outrage against the ongoing slaughter of women and children carried out over the past 3 years is not feigned
