A joint investigation by Germany’s Coordination gegen Bayer-Gefahren (CBG) and Medico International has linked German conglomerate Bayer to the Israeli military’s liberal use of glyphosate and white phosphorus inside Lebanon.

The report, “Cartographies of Destruction: Israel’s War Against Lebanon,” traces the supply of glyphosate and white phosphorus to Bayer, which acquired Monsanto in 2018.

Lebanon’s Ministry of Agriculture found localized soil samples containing glyphosate levels exceeding “normal levels by around 20 to 30 times,” with Lebanon’s army chief describing the situation as an “environmental and health” crime.

While Bayer’s executive board denied supplying glyphosate directly to the Israeli or US military during an April 2026 meeting, the panel did not issue a denial regarding raw materials for white phosphorus.
