Visiting London for a few days, and noticed a lot of half-mast flags: red cross on a white background (reminiscent of some crusaders, Templars?) any symbolism behind them being shredded? Its a lot of them, must have cost a ton of money…
Seeing as theres no complete answer here ill give it a go.
The flag is the st george cross, the flag of england.
A bunch of racists have been using cherry picker lorries and metal hoops to put them all over the place on lamp posts.
Fulfilling the nationalist symbolism a little too precisely these flags that have survived since being first put up are now worn out rags only fit for the bin.
Perhaps these people with so much pride in their country will go out and buy new clean ones and put those up. But they might find, as councils have, that vandalising hundreds of lamp posts with tight metal rings is an absolute nightmare to clean up after.
The country looks like crap. Well done dickheads.
If you get arrested for sex offences, you have to fly one of these flags on your house, so people know to stay away.
If an area has a large amount of sex offenders, they also have to add additional “paedo flags” to nearby lampposts etc as a warning to people travelling near the area.
I think they’re likely just shredded because of the recent weather, and there’s no additional symbolism there.
There’s a small chance I might be incorrect, of course.
These are just the normal England flags tied to lampposts by wannabe Blackshirts.
They appear half mast literally because that’s as tall as their ladders are.
They are tattered because although their “patriotism” extends to marking territory, it doesn’t include maintenance or upkeep.
I think it’s just a nod to a far right iconography…Tesla included too.
If I had to guess without any more info, I’d say it’s probably something racist/white supremacist. Hopefully it’s something way less serious, lol.
Nationalist pride
World cup starts soon. England qualified when these were put up by die hard fans.
Oh I thought it was just racism. It’s so hard to tell the difference these days isn’t it.
If they’re tattered, they’ve been there a while. You’ll know when the world cup flags go up, because they’ll be all over every pub with a TV. The pubs aren’t yet covered in world cup flags. These are racist flags.
These are racist flags.
And they’re almost certainly made in China.
“That’s cuz weir nut aloud to mek ar flags in Englund cuz the woke lefty libruls won’t let us cuz they hate Britten”
Palestine flags were up in areas of the UK… No one cared. Pride flags are everywhere.
People put the country’s flag up: racism
They were everywhere in Scotland too. Was that racist?
Here’s some contextual guidance: when racist cunts do it, its intent is racist. When other people do things for other reasons, such as to express solidarity with the victims of genocide perpetrated by a different bunch of racist cunts, it’s not racist.
And in Scotland and Wales, the nationalism is inclusive, so it’s different from the exclusive, violent shit that idiots like Are Tommeh are promoting in England.
I hope this helps, though I doubt if it will.
This is Guardian-tier brain rot.
Inclusive nationalism? Fucking hell. Flags went up all over schemes in Scotland at the same time. It’s maddening how the England flag upsets you.
So why were they put up by drunken idiots and not the council?
If they were drunk when these flags were put up, that’d be quite the accomplishment. Scaling a ladder or operating a cherry picked when inebreited is quite the skill.
This stereotype is tired, much like dismissing people as idiots when they clearly aren’t.
The council should have put them up in the interest of health and safety.
Yeah I never said they weren’t lucky drunken idiots did I. Anyway for all I know they did fall off the ladder, I wasn’t really inclined to go down and talk to them, as they were not exactly open to the suggestion that perhaps sticking timu flags, upside down, on every single lamp post in the town was a good idea.
If they really cared about their country why don’t they go and sort them out now they are a tattered mess? For that matter why didn’t they put them up professionally, all the way at the top of the lamp post, and with appropriate attachment cable so that they can bring it back down again when it inevitably needs maintenance. That’s why the council don’t put up flags because it’s a massive investment in cost to no benefit, and we’re not Americans so we don’t need to weave the flag around all of the time in order to feel big.
It’s the flag of the city of London.
I’m 99% sure there aren’t City of London flags tied to lampposts on an industrial estate near Heathrow. It’ll just be the usual England flags you see across the country.
The only difference is a tiny sword and city of London flags are all around historic London, just not greater London and Heathrow is like 3 miles away from historic London.
Do you mean the City of London? Heathrow is over 20 miles from the City.
No I mean historic London.
You are an American who just got your alternative potential answer from Wikipedia, right? Decent rapid research skills, well done.
But you need to keep going to contextual information. “the Historic City of London” is what it says on the page you linked, but click on “City of London” for its definition, perhaps.
And if you’re doing a bit like other posters, you need to keep the format roughly the same to convey that metatextual information.
Nope try again, you could offer your own idea as well maybe try that.
That’s such a vague term as to be meaningless. The City has historic parts, but lots of modern parts. So does Westminster. So does most of Greater London. Even the Heath Row goes back to at least the 15th Century.
And no, the Flag of the City of London would mot be seen in any of these places except the City and (for roundabout reasons) Epping Forest.
I offered two solutions homie, nuh uh is nice and all but a better answer seems like it would be better. They wanted to know what the flag is, either city of London or England. Why are they there location or far right right chucklefuckery.
