LASIK has a too-high complication rate (2% I think) and permanent corneal flap, so I shied away from it. Also, it’s offered by exactly one company pretending to be three in my area.
I won’t be able to take advantage of this given my age but I’m hoping it turns out!
That and tooth regeneration.
I opted for PRK instead of Lasik because of the flap, and was told there may be some mild discomfort during recovery. Pain was 10/10 for nearly 3 days and I was blind for half of that. Was not expecting such an intense recovery. This new thing sounds way better
I also had PRK. The blindness, can confirm. It’s very unnerving - you don’t realize how important eye sight is until you completely lose it,. Not blurry, or everything was dim like glaucoma. I was 100% blind in the strictest sense for 3 days.
The pain - I honestly don’t remember any but I kept my eyes closed, and my blackout eye shields on.
Still was the best decision I ever made in my life.
PRK still has the risk of halos in night vision and I’ve got my astigmatism correction pretty well dialled in with glasses so I was worried about that.
Have you considered lens implants?
Not until they come with a HUD
As long as it doesn’t require a subscription
Of course not, you silly goose!
Why would we require a subscription when ads, and data collection produces greater revenue.
Given the gestures vaguely state of the world
Who exactly would you trust with creating a HUD for your eyes?
Everyone over 60 in my lineage seems to have cataracts. So… later.
That and tooth regeneration.
Oh definitely. Spot the economic grouping from a mile away.
Bone regen for teeth would be a really big deal for me. Sort of gotten used to cataracts and just wear reading glasses… they are annoying as fuck but teeth are more important for me
Shied away from it. Why does it feel like it’s wrong. It feels like this is one of the word that doesn’t follow the rules and it should be something else.
shied past tense of shy is shied.
Oh well, I’m wrong. But it still feels like shied should be illegal.
uses new tech to correct rabbits eyes
Scientist: alright mr fluffy bunny, can you read the letters on line 4?
Bunny:
Scientist: good god… we’ve done it!
I have absolutely no issue with simply wearing glasses. I know that some people’s vision is probably beyond that point but for the majority, lasering your eyes is too extreme.
well when I watched a video on how LASIK works, I decided right then to forget it anyway.
It feels really weird but it was one of the best decisions of my life.
I got PRK where you literally go blind for 48 hours and it was still the best decision I ever made in my whole life. I have had 20/20 vision for over 15 years now.
