I just discovered a new Mastodon-compatible activitypub server called Starling. It’s point of difference is that it runs on commodity shared hosting, the kind that is very cheap to rent. Also it’s dead simple to install - just copy the files into your hosting space - no database, cron jobs, background processes, etc.

There is a federated recipe manager in the works called Cookifed.
