    From a geopolitical angle, has Iran harassed its neighbors so much they are willing to be the local targets for Iran’s reprisal attacks?

      Not particularly or at least no more than what they’ve done to Iran historically. The big divide is religious not political, Iran is Shia while everyone else more or less is Sunni. This is a rivalry that goes back to the initial Arab conquests more or less.
