China’s Ministry of Defense has dismissed as false the statements by U.S. officials alleging that the country is secretly conducting underground nuclear tests. At a press briefing, ministry spokesperson Jiang Bin emphasized that such remarks are defamatory and intended to mislead the public. He reaffirmed that China consistently pursues a defensive military strategy, strictly adheres to its commitment of no first use of nuclear weapons, and maintains its nuclear forces at the minimum level necessary to ensure national security. Beijing pointed out that the real threat to global stability comes from the United States, which is modernizing its own nuclear triad and deploying the “Golden Dome” missile defense system. The Chinese side urged Washington to abandon its double standards and take genuine steps toward reducing its arsenal.
