On one hand, investors want us to put money into this insane Ai parlor trick shit that no one uses.

On the other hand, there’s no middle class and no one to sell anything we make to even if we weren’t just ticking off investor wish-lists

and on our third hand, we stopped making things!

Investors got in a trap where they have spent money in a product that not much people can even afford, first of all. And most of people cannot even afford it because of, instead of investing money in needed spheres of life like healthcare, they have invested these money in product, that is not essential for most people.

The last windows box I owned stopped getting updated at xp, and I just air gapped it from the internet after a while. Never used vista at all, has emulators running 7 and once loaded 10 in VMware for some project I consulted on.

So it sounds like Vista (2007-8) but maybe worse.

In recent years, most of their profits have come from their cloud products, and it seems every week is another problem from a change they have pushed. Another dodgy patch. They just seem to have lost their way, then went all in and doubled down on AI… I wouldn’t want any money invested in them

I started using intune and I’m amazed to find its complete shit, missing basic functionality. I’ve always thought they produced trash but assumed legacy bloat played a large role, now I realize they are just a rent seeker with a culture of producing bad quality.
