Significant track closures are set to take place across Queensland’s rail network between April 3 and 26.
From April 3 to April 11, there will be track closures on the Sunshine Coast, Caboolture, Redcliffe, Doomben, Shorncliffe, Airport, Gold Coast and Beenleigh lines.
From 12 April to 26 April, track closures will continue for just the Beenleigh and Gold Coast lines.
The closures will allow works to be undertaken “safely and efficiently” in the rail corridor and are part of a “once-in-a-generation transformation to South East Queensland’s rail network”, Queensland Rail said.
The projects being worked on will include Cross River Rail, the Beerburrum to Nambour Rail Upgrade Stage 1, Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail, the Loganlea Station Relocation, the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program, European Train Control System and general track maintenance.
Supporting works for Cross River Rail will include the removal and installation of track and overhead line equipment around the Mayne Yard stabling facility, platform demolition at Moorooka Station, and testing and commissioning at the new Hope Island Station on the Gold Coast.
Once in a generation track closures taking a generation to complete.
