I think the NDP needs to actually inspire people, especially in the more socially conservative parts of the immigrant communities and the working class. I think that’s where they’re going to be able to most effectively peel votes away from the right side of both the Conservatives AND the center-right Liberals, and I think they can do it without even actually moving to the right, just by changing what they focus on. Perception is more important than reality, just look at Carney’s support compared to what he’s actually doing.

I think the NDP just need to do a better job of talking to, and about, working class people and issues and providing real solutions to their problems. Working class people want to feel represented and supported without feeling judged or controlled, and laissez-faire right-wing fiscal policies do a better job of making them feel that way (even though the feelings are completely false) than the woke culture war and climate change topics that have dominated so much of the NDP’s platform in the recent past, which is like a poison pill to many and that lets the opposition drive those wedges real hard, which is why the NDP are where they are today.

Rob Ashton would be my pick, I think he’s on the right path and has the right attitude from what I’ve heard from all of them. I’m prepared to be disappointed though.

They are really targeting low information voters with the NDP, I was surprised to see them attacking grocery stores and suggesting that inflation is due entirely to greed rather than money supply growth. They also seem to think we can just cut off 80% of our exports that go to the US, and stopping energy production cold turkey; which is scary when we are used to being a first world country.

They seem to have the playbook to turn Canada into Venezelua, I was excited when Jagmeet stepped down and now I realize the party is a lost cause, no one cares about mass immigration to depress salaries or inflationary deficits.
