Is this actually poetry? This looks more like prose… I never “got” poetry, though I typically expect something that looks more like lyrics. I’ve never heard of poetry written in this way.
I say this not mocking, but out of genuine curiosity. I did enjoy it, but felt it was more of a short story.
I think some of the spirit of poetry is that like art, it’s subjective and often irreverent to convention and structure. I think if something feels poetic to someone, then it probably is poetry regardless of any more academic classification.
Or maybe there’s some hard and fast rules, you can decide.
That makes sense. I don’t really know much about it beyond what I learned in school, so, not much.
Prose really. But I like it.
