He’s a doctor the same way Dr. Phil or MLK became doctors: he got a degree that grants him the right to tack on “doctor” to his name. That don’t mean he’s any good at it, or even that it adds anything of value to him at all.
From all accounts, like Dr Ben Carson, he is/was an actually-good cardiothoracic surgeon, like Ben Carson was an excellent neurosurgeon. Like, world-class. He just has a deep, gnawing pit of inadequacy that means he can’t be satisfied with just being good in that field. We can talk shit on the guy while also acknowledging that actually educated people, people who are very very good in their fields, are also susceptible to fascist thought in the same manner as anyone else.
