Russia is capable of retaliating if France and the United Kingdom decide to supply Ukraine with nuclear weapons. This was stated by Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN), Vasily Nebenzya. Russia possesses all the capabilities to counter such actions. Nebenzya emphasized that plans to supply Kyiv with nuclear weapons are irresponsible, dangerous, and illegal. He added that such a decision would violate the first article of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN noted that this is precisely why the authors of this initiative are trying to portray Ukraine’s acquisition of nuclear weapons as the result of Kyiv’s own development efforts.Such a development clearly shows that British and French leaders, who remain “on the sidelines” in the Ukrainian settlement process, have completely lost touch with reality. At the same time, he stressed that Russia still hopes there are enough level-headed people in Britain and France who can dissuade their leaders from making such a decision.
