We have plenty of recent examples. The problem is that we were so complacent, so comfortable, that we forgot that bad things could really happen to us. If we are lucky, Trump and Friends will ruin things too fast for us to tolerate in the next 6 months to tolerate keeping the status quo. Best case scenario is we wrestle control back away from our unbalanced government and become internally focused for some time to rebuild while the rest of the world gets to take a little break.
