“MotoGP Street Circuit” are words I never thought I’d hear. Probably not really, but the article makes it sound like it will be dropped right in the city-centre’s main roads.

Curious to see what the track will look like.

The article says the layout has been unveiled, but doesn’t seem to link it anywhere. Also they don’t mention Philip Island once, presumably because people love it, and it’s probably the best circuit on the calendar.

This is the best I could find. It seems crazy. I hope nobody gets hurt for the sake of fitting in more VIP lounges or whatever

Unfortunately. Phillip Island is not likely to remain on the calendar. It is definitely one of the best tracks with great racing and history, but doesn’t make enough money, and that’s not how Liberty role.

This was covered on a recent Oxley Bom MotoGP Podcast which is worth checking out. Apparently, there have been discussion talked about doing a street track in Melbourne instead but that is impossible due to safety and seen as a bit of a negotiating tactic to push for more investment.

Sadly it all comes down to money and Australia isn’t much of a market for bikes generally.
