David Eby’s apparent refusal to work towards a non-partisan Citizens’ Assembly on Electoral Reform within a CARGA with the BC Green Party is deeply disappointing.

In 2025, the all-party BC Democratic and Electoral Reform Committee travelled the province conducting public consultations, hearing presentations and considering almost 1000 submissions.

Over 90% of individuals and 43/46 groups who participated with input on the electoral system were calling for progress on proportional representation.

The committee came to a consensus recommendation for a non-partisan Peoples’ Assembly which would hear from experts and engage with British Columbians.

A non-partisan Citizens’ Assembly on Electoral Reform in BC, guided by the core principles* identified by the all-party committee, must be on the BC legislature’s agenda.
