Hey dumb question, not from over there: shouldn’t there be a state NY?
The map is showing New York State. New York City is in New York State. Wikipedia says New York City is about 37%.
NY, can refer to both the state and the city, based on context that refers to the state. if you want to be precise it should be NYC then referring to the city itself.
