Sounds good but their electricity situation was precarious last I checked.
How long would it take for Cuba to completely [well, probably more almost completely] transition to renewables and electric vehicles? I’m not proposing this as some easy way out obviously, but I’m just curious by anyone who has more experience in the subject
I am no expert, so i will parrot what i’ve learned from youtube videos.
Basically the biggest issue when it comed to electrification is energy density as for big industrial work diesel fuel is king.
For passanger cars and personal mobility electrification has reached a point where it’s very good. But now ask yourself, how are you gonna power that bulldozer? Trucks to transport shipping containers across the island?
Recharging huge batts takes hours even with the best fast charging technologies, refueling a tank takes minutes and you need no other infrastructure to operate diesel powered vehicles and machinery
