The fact that liberals and centrists look at Gavin Newsom and think he isn’t their enemy is one of the most depressing indicators of how screwed the US is.

To be fair, I kind of get it.
After seeing so many other prominent Dems (inexplicably) ‘taking the high road’, which means doing basically nothing, even seeing one mock the regime in sassy social media posts is refreshing and attention-grabbing.
For all of his many, many, many faults, he’s one of the few who has dared to ‘take the gloves off’ when fighting the fascists … even if it’s actually only in the form of online shitposts. People are desperately thirsty for someone to rally behind and take these fascist fuckers down.
Except he hasn’t done anything more than let pr people tweet. When pressed in person or with actions there’s nothing, which again makes is so sad all it takes for so many is shit posts
That is such a low bar and I give him zero credit.

Look. I don’t like Gavin, and really don’t want him to be on the ballot. But if comes down to him or Vance, or god forbid Trump running again I’m voting for Gavin.
