I want to move a lot of photos of my phone but I don’t want to move all of them at once.
I’d like to select two separate files and then have a file manager select all files between those two, i.e. select a range. As example, if I select file B and file E, I want to automatically select file C and D, but not anything else.
I mainly use Material Files as an app for that but it seems not possible to do this there? Does anyone have a suggestion for a file manager that can do this on Android?
Update: both Fossify Gallery and Fossify File Manager can do this! Just found out :) you select the first image(long press) then long press the last image of the group, it selects them all
Mm basically Ctrl + Shift + select but on a phone.
Not a real solution but a couple of workarounds with Material Files:
-
if part of the filename matches (like photos taken during 2026-02) you can search then “Select all”;
-
turning on its FTP server than managing from a pc
Real solution would be a file manager with advanced search, that can filter by date range for example.
Thank you! Both for the creative search idea, which may not really work for this but I hadn’t thought about it, and the app suggestion/testing!

Mixplorer cam do this. It isn’t available on F-droid and costs money on the Play Store but is free on XDA.
Thanks! I will try the other suggestion in the thread first but good to know.
