    looking at google maps, the basin is largely encircled by rivers. a few drain into it and disappear, and one even crosses it. very exciting to hear this is working. shading the ground with vegetation is self-reinforcing from the perspective of keeping water in the soil and enabling more life to grow. block the sun, and cover the ground with life!
