The 1920s were the last decade in American history during which one could be genuinely optimistic about politics. Since 1920, the vast increase in welfare beneficiaries and the extension of the franchise to women — two constituencies that are notoriously tough for libertarians — have rendered the notion of “capitalist democracy” into an oxymoron.
- Peter Thiel, 2009
Ironic considering the 20s expanded welfare because robber barons and ultra wealthy crashed the economy betting on the stock market. Doubly so since libertarians supposedly believe in the free market of ideas, but when forced to extend the franchise of voting to women, literally more than 50% of the population, they no longer want a “free” market. I presume theil would gladly make the same statement about civil rights along with his ideas on women’s suffrage and helping poor people stay alive.
I dunno man. I think a majority of white women voted for Trump. I think republicans dont want minorities and their allies to vote.
Republicans don’t want urban citizens to vote.
Are you trying to apply logic to Republican views???
Whether it makes sense or not, recently they’ve definitely been talking a lot about how they hate women’s suffrage. Can’t remember which one it was, but one of them even wanted to automatically assign a married women’s vote to the same person that her husband voted for. Heck that idiot might even have been a woman, I can’t remember.
like 60% of white women. i wonder if they are accounting major cities, blue areas or suburban and rural which are traditionally conservative. Poc men are likely to vote R IN many issues especially socially and culturally.
So, at first I was going to say ‘source?’ Because that seemed impossible, but according to pew research, you are correct. 51%, incredibly depressing.
Black people overwhelmingly voted for Harris, and with the women being 89%, which is quite a large margin.
