Formula 1 heralded a new era as a number of teams took to the track for day one of the Barcelona Shakedown, putting their new-look 2026 challengers to the test.
In a change from last season, all 11 teams have been offered the chance to gather crucial data in both Barcelona and Bahrain, with the Spanish circuit hosting a five-day shakedown. Each squad can only test for three of those days and some – including McLaren – have opted to wait until later in the week, while Williams will miss out entirely.
As the battle to maximise the performance of the smaller, lighter cars heats up, those who chose to venture out on day one clocked their first laps of the season at the Circuit de celona-Catalunya.

Turn 1 Visuals has the total laps Per team and per PU on their Mastodon btw:
Just 5 laps for AM, not a good sign.
A nice 360 :)
Are McLaren at the track but just not running, or are they not present at all yet?
Also unrelated: I miss the F1 logo that was used for this community, I found it stood out more than the current one.
Thanks for the input :) I changed it to the official logo, better?
Oh nice :) I didn’t expect you to change it on my behalf!
Good news, we should expect daily highlights from F1.com
Can I watch the Barcelona Shakedown on TV?
Unfortunately the Barcelona Shakedown will not be aired live. However, a highlights video will be released each day as well as short interviews with the drivers and team principals, clips on social media and supporting coverage across F1.com.
Testing isn’t the greatest watch even with video. Just a timing sheet is rough, even with entertaining amateurs
Here’s autosport’s live blog which is also worth leaving open
