Talking about the nameservers (authoritative DNS servers) for the domain. Without them, the domain cannot be resolved (used, in practice).

@Oisteink @krigo666 WHOIS records are not just who owns the domain, but also list the authoritative nameservers.
For an example, pull the WHOIS record for lemmy.world, and you’ll see:
nameserver: morgan.ns.cloudflare.com
nameserver: piper.ns.cloudflare.com

@Atemu I was trying to let others know what I found; when I did a quick search I saw they were asking about it.
