Ivory is very polished but the subscription is really expensive considering the alternatives.

Agreed, it’s definitely on the pricier side. But in my opinion it’s also the most refined one, the app works great and the UI is really good. If you appreciate well-crafted and -designed apps, it’s worth it. If those things don’t matter as much (or if you simply prefer to have more options/customizability), it might not be for you.

Yep Ice Cubes is great, you can have loads of timelines on there if you want. Mastoot is also great, really nice to use and easy on the eye.

Mastoot is about as simple as the official mastodon app. If you don’t want to do anything complicated, you can’t go wrong with either of these. However, if you’re like me, and you don’t care about people, but you care about topics, these apps are going to be useless to you. Following particular hashtags just doesn’t work with these.

I am new to Mastodon but have enjoyed Mona the most so far

I think it may also be worth noting the “in app purchases” seem to be actual purchases not subscriptions

    Cheers

So far I’ve been using Mammoth and Metatext. I like them both but Metatext is edging out at the moment.

Pros of Mammoth: *Plenty of customization options *Nice interface *Translation features

Cons of Mammoth: *A little clunky *Some trouble uploading pictures *Custom emoji/emojos don’t show up (on my phone at least)

Pros of Metatext: *A bit smoother *Nice interface *Custom emoji appear

Cons of Metatext: *No translation options (that I’ve seen) *Some errors when starring posts

Both are pretty decent apps, but once I get around to updating my iOS I will probably try a couple others on for size.
