I once again revisited the honing process on this razor, this time “correcting” some wobble at the spine using an Atoma 600 diamond plate (with the edge taped). Then I did a synthetic progression using 2k, 5k, 8k, 10k.
This still isn’t my favorite razor to shave with, but it’s usable now! I wonder if a razor like this would benefit from a 12k finisher. At least I’m content at the moment and not immediately disgusted and wanting to re-hone it. I’ll try it again another day and see how it goes.
I really like this soap base. It’s pretty basic but very easy to use.
You might try another round with taping the edge and grinding the spine, only this time use the 2K so you won’t worry so much about the amount of metal your remove. See if the 10K result gets a little better. I bet it will. Also, you can push the the edge on the 10K a bit. Dish soap and water works great for this.

“Nothing personal, it’s just business”
Woody Almond sounds like a nice scent combo.
It’s pretty unique. Woody Almond is a perfect description for it. I’d nominate it for BVWSC but sometimes I think it has some rancid oil smell, but it’s probably just how I interpret the scent. I didn’t smell it today, for example.

Tabac Tuesday!
Have a good one.
Does the Tabac cologne have decent longevity?
It sticks with me most of the day. The EdC initial scent is different from the soap. I get the pepper scent strong at first then it goes full Tabac on the dry down.
I haven’t done a Tabac Tuesday in way too long. I keep forgetting about it, but the Stank™ should not be denied. Great shave!
- Brush: Omega - 10048 28mm Boar
- Razor: Gillette Slim Adjustable (L4, 1966)

Lovely scent combo and a smooth shave. The Slim really has held up well and is popular for good reason, they’re great shavers.

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.
This was an amazingly close 2-pass shave and exceedingly comfortable. Yesterday I used the Tatara Amakuni which is an AC razor that has a very design that is very similar to the Vector. I had an excellent shave from the Amakuni but today’s there was more blade feel in today’s shave and it felt surprisinly more satisfying. I need to do a side-by-side comparison of these two razors.
Cherie Tobacco absolutely never disappoints. This is one worth having in the trifecta.

- Brush: AP Shave Co. Snakeskin w/ 26 mm Silksmoke Flattop/Fan hybrid knot
- Razor: Razorine Flatboy 73
- Blade: Personna (Unknown)
- Lather: OAM - Oli del Benessere soap
- Post Shave: OAM - Oli del Benessere Sensitive Skin toner
just one pass + cleanup on the face. Not too rough, but not very smooth either. Middle of the road shave.
I only had time to shave my face. I thought the Flatboy should be great for getting sharp angles at first try for the goatee. Unfortunately, wrong. There were a few stubborn hairs I had to get with an XTG clean-up and even then, a few escaped and I used my zero gap trimmer. This might also be due to the blade, it was labeled as “Personna” but has zero identifying markings on itself nor the wrapper. Who knows if these even are for general shaving use and not just for surgery preparation?! (Our razors on station are very mild, almost dull, for that exact purpose).
My new work has me fried, as in: absolutely exhausted. Will post updates on FTF. Have a good time, everyone ✌🏻
