A piece of the Canadian Shield I found near a Canadian Tire, so it’s extra authentic. It’s hard to tell from the picture, but those bits of pyrite sparkle in the sun.

This is one of my favorite rocks, I use it as a weight for exercise and to strengthen my grip.

    neat ! parts of (northern) Canadian geology are 2-3 billion yr old crust so there are some gems to be found up there to be sure.

      There are lots! I found a solid chunk of green mica I’ll post here eventually, but it’s janky because I’ve ground a lot of it down for paint pigment.

      The sheild is neat. It’s so dense and hard the houses built here have incredibly stable foundations. It costs so much to drill into sheild, the foundations are often built around the rock rather than break it up. I have huge boulders jutting into my basement, I use them as shelves.
