      a UNIPARTY, basically a coalition. 1 gets to pretend to be on the “change side” while do nothing to reign in the right wingers,and are mostly complicit because they benefit from the handouts of the billionaires and propaganda.

    It is all about political control of Burma so that, when China invades Taiwan, they have supply lines outside the south China Sea. In this case, land routes through Burma.

    I’m not sure how significant or effective elections in Myanmar are. The government only controls about half of the country. The rest is occupied by rebel forces.

    China has been trying to stabilize the situation for a while, which makes sense given the two countries are neighbours. Though ‘stability’ may not exactly mean peace here and it may not be in the best interest of the Burmese people. At the very least it reduced armed clashes in some areas (where a Chinese oil or gas pipeline goes through).
