Wish for Wings That Work: An Opus Christmas Story is a children’s book by Berkeley Breathed that was published in 1991. It was made into an animated television special that same year. The book and special feature characters from Breathed’s comic strips Bloom County and Outland.
Wow, interesting. I had no idea this was a thing.
The animation seems quite strong, and the guy doing Opus seems like a real good voice match. At the same time, Opus seems heavily ‘sitcom-cartoonified’ here, turning in to a significantly different character, really. Almost a chatterbox, where in the strips he seemed more shy, quirky, and awkwardly clever, if that’s a thing.
And yet, that’s kinda how it goes when moving a property to TV. So those quibbles aside, it still looks well above average as an animated special.

Remember most of the Opus lines are him narrating/dictating his letter to Santa.
Mm, okay. Maybe the problem is that I never happened to read that book. (or graphic novel, I guess?)
I’ll put it on my list!
Oh, and thank you so much for keeping this project going. It’s appreciated. <3
