    Those tankers have to pass through controlled waters in the Baltic and North Sea.
    Even without any war-like acts, the German coast guard could simply stop them and order a very thorough safety and documents inspection, which those run-down, illegally registered ships would never pass, then impound them until all issues are fixed (so, indefinitely).
    But they don’t do that, because those tankers off-load their oil in India, from where it is then sold to Europe as “Indian” oil cheaply.
    It’s all a big farce.

      Honestly surprised nobody in any of these governments has suggested using their navy to impound these oil tankers, arrest the crew as illegitimate pirates, use them as negotiation chips with Russia, and just sell the oil domestically and make 100% profit.

      Like what, Russia is going to do something about it? Make a sternly worded letter to the UN?

      Fuck em. They want to throw out the whole rules based order and start destroying global infrastructure “by accident”, then they get to start losing their illegitimate shadow fleet.

      Treat scum like they deserve to be treated.
