“Let me ask that guy over there.”
“What’s up with the president?”
“Republican idiot’s starting a war over oil.”
“I have no idea.”
And on the off years, the answer “Democrat idiot is perpetuating a war over oil”.
Note: I am a Canadian who’s social media history would definitely get me barred from Trump’s america, and I am tired of how badly American politics affect my life.
By my count, that’s at least a 70-year window. I should mention that the public at the time might not have thought of it that way. Some of the blood-for-oil conflicts were branded as anti-communism. They might have been that, too, that is, keeping the oil out of Soviet hands.

Here’s how I interpreted that:
