I have a full beard and only really shave my neckline.

    • Prep: warm shower w/ shampoo and conditioner.
    • Bowl: Proraso kit bowl
    • Brush: Proraso kit brush
    • Razor: Henson
    • Blade: RK stainless
    • Lather: Proraso sapone da barba rinfrescante
    • Post Shave: cold water rinse
    • Fragrance: Dolce&Gabana the one

Not particularly happy. I have sensitive skin and to get anywhere to a close shave I end up with a few red spots. They don’t hurt, but don’t look good.

Lower neck is difficult for tons of people. I stopped going against the grain there a couple years ago and it has been smooth sailing.

I don’t go fully against it, I go something like 60 degrees from fully against. Might have to increase the angle. I now that at 180 (with the grain) the shave looks like a day or more older. Thanks for the feedback!

Nonidi 29 Frimaire an 234 de la Révolution, jour d’Olive

I was tired, and dropped the brush. The coin came off, but the rest seems ok.

    Have a good evening!

    Adventus Day 14

Today was a really nice soap from Chiseled Face. Slick base with a good scent throughout. I paired it with 7 Doubloons and randomly chose the fragrance, Madame Chouteau.

Today’s satchel held a variety of frag samples (Indigo, Alive, Damocles) from HoM, a sample of Valley of Ashes by Southern Witchcrafts, and a sample of Prince Edward Island by Shannon’s Soaps.

    Have a good one!

I really appreciate the standard CFG base too (I am totally unfamiliar with the Silk soaps and have heard mixed opinions). Especially GTB is great to use. I’d compare it to Stirling: artisan soap without fancy sounding ingredients, totally easy to whip up a slick lather. Or in short: solid performers who get the job done fast and good.

    December 19th, 2025

    • Brush: Summer Break Soaps - w/Maggard Silvertip 28mm Badger
    • Razor: Chiseled Face Legacy Raw Titanium - (#69)
    • Blade: Personna Platinum Chrome (1)
    • Lather: Chiseled Face - Ghost Town Barber - Soap
    • Post Shave: Murer & Wirtz - Tabac - Aftershave
    • Post Shave: Zingari Man - The Stargazer - Aftershave Serum
    • Fragrance: Noble Otter - Hamami - EdP

This razor/blade combination is one of @snooting@wetshav.ing’s favorites so it was high time I gave it a try. It had a great, mild feel and I got a super close shave. What more could you ask for?

I’m doing a good job of using this soap and so far it hasn’t gotten old. I’m still at least a few+ shaves away from killing it, but the end is near.

    December 19, 2025 – Fougère Friday

    • Brush: AP Shave Co Summer 28mm G5C
    • Razor: J.A. Henckels 50 9/16 Hollow Ground Square Point
    • Lather: Wholly Kaw - Fougère Bouquet - Soap
    • Toner: Thayers - Coconut - Toner
    • Aftershave: Unilever - Brut - Aftershave

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

I thought that yesterday’s test shave of this razor could have been better. From my normal honing process, I know that the edge is good, so I assumed that my technique was at fault. Today, I focused on technique, especially during the first pass, and the resulting shave quality is exactly where I would like it to be.

According to the Thirsty Badger, Fougère Bouquet is a dupe of Houbigant Fougère Royale. This is one of the first soaps I purchased when I got into wetshaving and I have always loved using it. Terrific scent and, as a bonus, it goes perfectly with Brut 😁

    • Brush: Summer Break Soaps “Elyria” - TurnNShave v9 Tip 28mm Badger
    • Razor: Blackland Sabre
    • Blade: Accuforge GEM Microcoat (7)
    • Lather: Declaration Grooming - Dirtyver - Soap
    • Post Shave: Declaration Grooming - Dirtyver - Aftershave
    • Post Shave: Oleo & Co. - Facial Toner - Toner
    • Fragrance: Barrister and Mann - Lavanille - EdT

Another excellent shave with the Sabre. We’re in that GEM sweet spot where the blade feels super keen yet comfortable. I’m really enjoying this razor.

Dirtyver is a keeper and combines quite nicely with Lavanille.

    Happy Friday!
