How is this entry so far down in the list?

The article says that “[that phrase] is kind of skibidi.”

Because it’s mostly used as a shibboleth, so it isn’t too productive. On the other hand stuff like “slop” is being used way more often than before, and being applied to new situations it didn’t before, like “AI slop”, “sloptuber” etc.

TIL about the word “sloptuber”. Btw by using that word, you increased the number of times it has been used on the Threadiverse by +50%. :-P (and I will now increase that +33%)

        No cap + rizz.

I found a third one in an instance yours doesn’t federate with. But it’s that sort of fun word you can use for a lot of different compounds and derivatives; like, if I were to say “slop TV”, “memeslop” or even “sloppification”, even if you never saw any of those, you’d immediately get what I mean. That’s the rizz of it, I think.

(Wait… isn’t that “no cap”? By asking, I may have just broken the coolness of the trend, and I am okay with that.)

“To cap” is to lie, to exaggerate, to bullshit. It can be also used as a noun; “that’s cap” = “that’s bullshit”. Originally AAVE slang.

So “no cap” = “honestly, saying the truth”.

I understood that “no cap + rizz” as “seriously, this is cool”.

Ah, so this could be why all of a sudden, like in the past several days or so, that word is showing up super frequently on Lemmy (and elsewhere). I kind of assumed it wasn’t by coincidence. So interesting to see how these things become a life imitating art versus art imitating life situation.
