It seems kinda like kicking Shapiro when he’s down. Ever since Charlie caught that bullet, the Nick Fuentes wing of the conservative movement has been ascendant. And those guys hate Ben (because he’s a Jew).
There is absolutely and unequivocally no way to feel bad for kicking Shapiro when he’s “down”, if he’s even “down” right now. If he’s being targeted for being Jewish then that is fucked up and nobody deserves that.
Mocking him for other, non-bigoted reasons is always perfectly fine, in my opinion.
I refuse to take people like Shapiro (or Kirk) seriously enough to hate them. That’s their whole game. To convince people that they’re consequential.
The power of provocateurs is not in their followers, it’s in their detractors.
Yeah I’m with you on the first part. I don’t keep updated on disliking them any more; they’re not worth my time and I simply don’t care about what these bigoted losers have to say.
I don’t necessarily agree on the second part, though. The way Shapiro, Kirk, Walsh, all the online alt-right guys and gals and anybody in between push their followers does have influence and it does matter that they’re spewing hateful things that millions of people (or hundreds of thousands of people and millions of bots) see, ingest, and potentially believe.
