I know Thanksgiving is specific to the United States (although other countries have similar holidays), but this is a good point in the competition to take stock: you have a nearly completed novel. Only about 5K to go, if you are on target.
Personally, I am very thankful for this month. I am thankful for meeting all of you who have been participating in this competition. (I’m also thankful for those who have been lurking. 😀)
I don’t know how much I’ve mentioned this, but for quite some time I was unable to partake in this annual ritual because of family issues. And, over the last five years, I haven’t been able to find the motivation. But, this group has given me just enough of a push for me to actually do this again. Get me back into my love of writing.
Quote of the Day:
Start writing, no matter what. The water does not flow until the faucet is turned on.
― Louis L’Amour
Random European extrapolations: Uhh… the novel is about sadness and dark themes, but I’ve felt happy writing it. I’ve been happy getting some of the sadness and unwritten thoughts down to writing. It’s been very therapeutic. I’ve not felt completely stuck, at no point this year I’ve not felt like writing this was a chore to be dealt with. And I’ve not felt alone either, thank you, folks.
Anyway, 50,242 words! I think this is a good place to call it done as far as the project checkpoint goes. As the project is part of an indie game project and I hope to get the design document to some kind of a presentable state by the end of the year, I will definitely be continuing the work on the manuscript very soon.
Congrats on reaching 50K. And it makes sense to call it at a good checkpoint. I could have written another 20-30K for my novel, but I just decided to hit the end point for the narrative.
Ho… ly… spit. Congrats on the goal!
