After 2 years of refusing to fix core problems and add basic gameplay which is present in the base version of CS1, they continue to ignore the problems and push out more paid content.

They’d have had a lot more success in selling these DLCs if the core game functioned anywhere close to CS1.

I’ve played about ~60 hours of CS1 which was worth the buying price.

But between the never-ending stream of mostly low effort DLC and the intense competition in the city-building genre (not only with new games, but also with Simcity 4, which has 20+ years of free custom content), I’ve decided to not bother with the CS series.

And I am huge fan of Cities in Motion 1/2, the predecessors to Cities: Skylines.

Yeah, CS1 was a good game but it didn’t grip me and eventually gave up on it. Same for CIM, CXL and other modern city builders. There was also Highrise City for a while, which has some neat features and looks a lot like CS but plays more like anno. But all in all I kind of decided nothing beats SC4 for the semi-casual mayors.

I still play the original Cities in Motion to this day. I really like the euro vibe of the original, although the game is IMO unplayable without certain mods.
