Today’s cassette is “Drums & Wires” (1979) by XTC.
Everyone knows “Making Plans for Nigel”—but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. This entire album is solid gold. You’ve got rack-rabbit rhythms, pumping basslines, and guitar tones so jagged they could slice concrete. It’s post-punk with teeth.
And yeah, it absolutely belongs in your Walkman while you strut around the neighborhood.
