Having just taken the train yesterday to a bewildering number of options with kids, and travel cards, and split tickets, and off-peak/on-peak. Thank fuck something is getting fixed!
Great for those commuters too. No excuse to take the car now!
This makes a massive difference to my bank balance. No joke. Its like a wee pay rise.
Good. Across the rest of europe, peak-specific fares are rare (although some passes exclude morning peak). However the capacity-investment problem remains - it’s hard for the railway to make extra track and trains only needed for peak hours. So govt should also encourage employers to propose more flexible hours.
This is absolutely brilliant. Struggling to see what the catch is. Since we got 2 euros fares here in Dublin we are all crammed into the tram/train/bus like sardines. But a wee bit of discomfort for a cheaper journey? I’ll take it
Bit of a bait-and-switch this, seeing as Holyrood increased fares more than the rest of Britain since it took control.
Looking at the table of savings, with one being as high as 48% and the average being 35%, me thinks you’re spikkin shite.
