I’m not often on the side of the cops, but here, yeah. I used to live in an apartment next to an intersection which was popular for this. You can’t believe how inconsiderate it is if you haven’t experienced it. Sleeping is important.
This is the sort of thing that happens here. I hear people with cars reving way too loud in the middle of the night. Police in turn try to fast track removing traffic calming devices because they prevent their officers from chasing people on foot with their patrol vehicles through neighborhoods.
Same deal with fireworks. Complete ban, police ignore the issue because they like harassing homeless people trying to sleep instead.
You know what dissuades street racing? Giant fuck off concrete planters in the middle of the street.
Didn’t help that around the same time a dude with a gun was having a crisis:
