        Yeah, he’s the guy foucault put at the start of ‘discipline and punish’ right? Written about there specifically because he was the last gasp of that style of spectacular murder, to the point the executioners kind of didn’t have a ton of practice. It… Fuck it; just read the book; it’s a good one. For bonus points pair with ‘seeing like a state’

        Edit: some theory is badly writren and a labor to read, no matter how beautiful the ideas are. Foucault, no matter what you think about his ideas, is a skilled and engaging writer.
