The new tank platoon manual has diagrams for using the main gun on an Abrams to shoot down a drone so, I think ‘this is better than nothing’ is what they’re going for at this point

Yeah then a drone with a gun like the Gaza drones instead of an explosive shows up and your soldiers are all running around waving trash mops in the air instead of taking cover.
Also if the kill radius of these drones was less than 1 meter like the description claims then people would be far less afraid of them already. The fact of the matter is that simply isn’t true. Drones are hitting targets and wiping out entire groups, that’s not a 1 meter radius, the examples where this has been true are luck which you really do not want to rely on with something that will take your arm.

They claim it’s to fight anti-personnel drones but any frag grenade has a kill radius of 5+ meters. This also depends on tangling props, but many FPV drones have a bumper around the blades.
