      Proper liches have an inner sanctum setup and put traps outside of it.

      But it’s hard making a way out that doesn’t let in pests.

          If you don’t even have teleportation wards up, anything could just pop in.

            you can’t teleport from outside a warded area to inside it, but you can teleport from place to place within it (RAW). Since i the clever Lich know where the entrance is I can exit my inner sanctum and DD past the traps to just inside the warded entrance and walk out. An interloper wouldn’t be able to do this in reverse since they wouldn’t know where the door to the inner sanctum is and would have to navigate the traps!
