Regardless of what you think of the middle-eastern petro-dictators, this is actually not a bad idea. The Palestinians deserve better than Israeli genocidal maniac and Hamas. We all should be helping the people, not the leaders. It’s the people who suffer.
Palestinians are oppressed by
- Israeli occupation and domination
- Palestinian Authority’s corrupt police state run by Fatah
- Hamas djihadist authoritarianism
- UNRWA keeping them eternal refugees in Lebanon and elsewhere, preventing resettlement and integration into host countries.
- Lebanon not giving Palestinians born in Lebanon a path to citizenship, keeping them second class citizens restricted from professions
- Jordanian monarchy ruling over a majority Palestinian population, but restricting them from some government jobs
Palestinians also have been used as political pawns by anyone who opposes Israel or the Western powers. Secular Arab nationalist dictators like Saddam and Assad, as well as Islamist like Iran’s ayatollahs. This has never led to better outcomes for the Palestinians themselves, often the opposite like the expulsion from Kuwait.
The PA has neglected economic development, institution building, and civil society. They are good at keeping themselves in power and raking in the foreign aid.
Hamas in Gaza played a similar game, but their main focus was building of fortifications and arming for a war with Israel. Economic development and prosperity for the people of Gaza was a never a priority.
The Palestinians have been failed by both big political ideologies in the region of the last century Arab Nationalism and Islamist Djihadism. Arguably the Jordanian monarchy has given them the best outcome overall.
Paradoxically the Palestinians living inside 1948 Israel have the most rights, freedoms, and prosperity, besides those who have citizenships in western countries.
