I HAD NEVER SEEN THIS STRIP???

NOW I know what hampster Huey and the gooey kablooie is. I think it shows up in another strip I did see as a kid and I just assumed it was a reference to something we didn’t know about as the audience

Hamster Huey shows up in at least a half-dozen strips. It even has a sequel!

Nice collection! That was most of the ones I was thinking of. But wasn’t there one where the mom tells the dad “Oh, but you look so cute doing the ‘happy hamster hop!’”? Think he was grumbling to her about reading it again. “I don’t want to look cute!”

You’re right, sorry! It wasn’t indexed here.

Ah, that’s right - was thinking it was a weekday comic! Probably why it wasn’t indexed - it was part of the “throwaway” bit at the top.

The Noodle Incident never actually gets explained anywhere in the series, though it’s an ongoing gag.

It gets referenced in the webcomic Freefall, where we find out that the incident really was caused by an alien, namely Sam Starfall. We never find out what happened though.

NOW I know what hampster Huey and the gooey kablooie is

I mean, it’s only mentioned in the throwaway joke in the first two panels, and we don’t really get any information on it other than the title.

I think the strip I was familiar with was Calvin begging his dad to read him hampster Huey and the gooey kablooie again

Its fun to have seen some interaction with it. Maybe Calvin just thought this was super fun and wanted this again lol

Hello fellow Calvin and Hobbes fans!

About this community and how I post the comic strip… The comics are posted in chronological order on the day (usually) they were released. Posting them to match the release date adds a bit of fun and nostalgia to match the experience of reading them in the newspaper for first time. Many moons ago, I would ask my Dad to save the newspaper for me everyday so I could read my favorite comic strips. It really sucked when I missed a day. Only years later, when I got the books was I able to catch up on the missed strips.

Calvin and Hobbes is a daily American comic strip created by cartoonist Bill Watterson that was syndicated from November 18, 1985, to December 31, 1995. Commonly cited as “the last great newspaper comic”,[2][3][4] Calvin and Hobbes has enjoyed broad and enduring popularity, influence, and academic and philosophical interest… Read more: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calvin_and_Hobbes
