      Source ?

This is the fun bit here, StatsCan does not differentiate firearm crime that is committed from illegally owned guns and legally owned guns.

However, myself and my friends, who also own lawful firearms owners, are directly affected by these measures. We’re target shooters and deep-wood camping enthusiasts, we can attest that these bans were to insight fear into the many Canadians who never seen nor held a firearm. The firearms banned are not assault rifles, assault rifles have been banned in Canada since the 80’s, these are assault style rifles entirely on design and not function.

Edit: I also want to touch on the tid-bit from Carney’s promises for Canadians, he claims that he’ll revoke firearms licenses from people involved in domestic violence or abuse, the RCMP/Gov has already had the power to revoke or suspend any persons license who has committed any violent offence, this isn’t something new.

Yet the government’s focus is entirely in the wrong direction, these bans & confiscations won’t stop the illegal gun flow into Canada, people who intend to break the law don’t care how many laws they break to achieve their goal.
