I’m wondering about people’s first-hand experiences with OpenShot and how it compares with other open source alternatives. I tried it some years ago when the project was fairly young, and I liked the interface, I thought it was super promising, but it just wasn’t “there” yet. There were some bugs and rough edges that hadn’t been polished, but I wanted to keep my eye on it. The feature set seemed to fall between Shotcut and kdenlive. How has it progressed and how does it compare to the other options out there?

I know I can just try it myself (and I’m sure I will), but sometimes you have to use software for many hours before running into certain bugs, limitations, and workflow issues, so I want to hear others’ experiences.

I haven’t tried Shotcut till now It does have GPU encoding on Windows over Openshot Seems it has a lot more features that I normally see broken out into separate programs Like audio mixing and effects, coloring, etc
I just do some basic editing ATM so Openshot is more my speed though it can do far far more than what I’m doing in it Mainly stitching together GoPro videos
