I feel so drained after having put all of my critical thinking and creativity evaluating solution to the engineering problems I encounter; when you want to keep improving by doing a little bit everyday, how do you manage to make something decent?

I keep notes on my phone about song ideas, either a written note or a small recording, and work on them when I have energy!
