Sean Duffy, the Trump administration’s transportation secretary, has made a startling admission that he switched flights for his wife this week to help her avoid flying out of beleaguered Newark Liberty, one of the busiest airports in the New York area.
Duffy’s disclosure on Monday runs counter to his repeated assurances to the American public that it is safe to fly from Newark, despite a spate of dramatic outages affecting the airport’s radar systems. On Sunday, the transportation secretary went on NBC News’s Meet the Press and insisted Newark was safe.
“It is,” he protested. “I fly out of Newark all the time, my family flies out of Newark.”
Hours later, speaking to the conservative radio host David Webb on SiriusXM, he told a different story. “My wife was flying out of Newark tomorrow, I switched her flight to LaGuardia,” he said in comments first reported by Gizmodo.
This is what gets me about these people. There is a wealth point were an increase in personal wealth will not make your life nicer but there are tons of public improvements that can. Even if you make less living in a functional society has more advantages than some slight personal wealth increase. Everyone who is at the level or higher where they own a nice place and have nice things, have retirement fully funded ; they should be the most concerned about a clean environment, good infrastructure, a healthy populace, etc.
And a plane that doesn’t crash. They use these same air traffic controllers and are surrounded by planes landing. This is a class leveling need.
These people will also blame people eating out for why they’re poor and then complain about people not supporting restaurants. They will spit in the face of the mountains of academic research and obvious evidence otherwise which points out that crime isna poverty problem. They will do everything in their power to keep wages as low as possible and will raise prices on their products higher and higher as if anyone has the money to buy that shit. They will let you die so they don’t have to give up a single dollar even they already said that they would and should be accounting for it.
These aren’t smart people, they are animals running on monkey brain. They hoard and they scheme and they have very public temper tantrums when they don’t get their way. Sometimes we read the narcissists prayer as this clever deceitful thing but it makes so much more sense when you frame it as the desperation of a scared, cornered animal which knows it’s already lost.
yeah. its just so wierd that the folks who should care the most care the least. Actively work toward whats actually worse for them.
They only care a fiscal quarter at a time. No ability to think longterm, they’re just constantly chasing number go up instead of building something strong and stable.
